The Spring Staff Have Arrived

All of the Spring Staff have arrived and are deep into staff training. Between now and Friday, February 25th they will complete a multi-faceted training to prepare to serve school groups, community groups and families this season. This high quality group of sixteen of 22 to 31 year-olds come to the season with a vast array of outdoor leadership skills. Like all YMCA staff they are trained in First Aid, CPR, AED use and Oxygen Administration. Many of the staff have also completed the week-long Wilderness First Responder course here at Camp Greenville. They are completing additional sessions of safety training like vehicle training and ropes course facilitation. Although only two of the group are first-time staffers at Camp Greenville, all of them are going through training on every part of leading the spring programs. These include teaching our amazing environmental education classes like Moving Mountains, Wilderness Skills, Animal Adaptations, Watershed Wonders, and Appalachian Fair. They also learn to lead our evening programs - Dutch Auction, Stars, Sparks, Stories and Fire on the Mountain to name a few.

Today the entire camp staff (summer staff, fall/spring staff, maintenance crew, office staff and kitchen staff) came together a fun morning of camp beautification. See the article http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=297145&id=14353763549.

It is a great time to be a part of YMCA Camp Greenville!
