Thanks For Stopping By Will

I continue to be impressed with by the alumni of Camp Greenville and their far-reaching influence. I was so pleased when long-time camp advocate, Will Nelson, stopped by last week for a visit.

Mr Nelson started as a Camp Greenville camper in 1951. He made the transition to camp staff member in 1956 serving three consecutive summers along side Monk Mulligan and Luther Marchant.

When his own four children were of camp age he made sure they had their own Camp Greenville memories to cherish. His children were campers here from 1971 to 1988. He and his wife, LeGrand, served as Camp Ambassadors in the 1970s and 80s representing camp as recruiters. Mr Nelson served on the Camp Board of Advisors from 1993-1999.

In 1992 he began attending volunteer work weekends which he continues to this day. In fact, he plans to be at the next Volunteer Weekends April 15-17 and May 20-22.

In 2000, Will went back on the camp payroll as a leader for Trailblazer trips. He spent four years heading up trips to Alaska, Linville Gorge and Rivers trips.

Sixty years of service to others at Camp Greenville - Very Impressive!

Thanks Will.

Will would not seek any recognition for his tireless efforts but many in the Camp family see his contribution and we all appreciate Will.
Another reflection of Monk, Sudie, Luther and Jo's
enduring legacy for those of us they touched.
